English Level 2 (NCFE & Open Awards)

Overview
This course offers students who do not have GCSEs an alternative qualification in English language at Level 2. It provides you with practical skills, confidence and fluency, setting you on the path to gainful employment and higher education.
You do not need any qualifications or experience in order to join this course in English Level 2 Functional Skills. The following requirements are all you need to join:
Age: 18+
Students have English Level 1 qualification or take a Functional Skills test to see if they should join Entry 1, 2, 3 or Level 1, 2 Functional Skills in English.
All entry decisions are taken on an individual basis.
Students who complete Level 2 English may progress to A level English, or to vocational and higher education courses.
You will study the following three units and you will be assessed on them all separately:
- Speaking, Listening and Communicating
- Reading
- Writing
